Mission: USRA STEMaction Center programs inspire, engage and develop the next generation science and technology workforce through K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs.
Vision: We act as an innovation hub hosting multiple inspirational, educational and accessible STEM and workforce development programs catering to a diverse community. Our scope is throughout Maryland, with a special focus on Howard County in proximity to USRA's headquarters in Columbia, and reaching through the greater Baltimore-Washington region.
Methodology: USRA STEMaction Center programs build upon a solid base of FIRST programs in Maryland. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is one of the world's leading programs for inspiring student interest in technology and engineering. We support the progression of FIRST programs for K-12 students, and are the Maryland Affiliate Partner for the FIRST Tech Challenge and Junior FIRST LEGO League programs.
USRA STEMaction Center supports additional exciting STEM programs and events, including the Maryland STEM Festival, Howard County STEM Festivals, the Maryland Tech Invitational and our own School is Out, STEM in In! series.
We operate the USRA STEMaction Center in Columbia, MD. This Center offers practice facilities for FIRST teams and will become a hub of STEMactivity for students throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor.
